Our First Experience with MSC - and It Was In The Yacht Club

With MSC officially cruising out of Galveston now, I thought it would be a great opportunity to get on board and check it out.  I had done a ship inspection on the Seascape (the ship sailing out of Galveston) in April 2025 while at Cruise 360 and it was a beautiful ship, but I had not had the opportunity to experience sailing on MSC yet.  So, I booked us on a 7 day cruise in January.

As always, we travel to the port area the day before the cruise starts, so we headed to Galveston Saturday morning.

We did the obligatory stop at Buc-ee's (if you know you know), but also had a reason to this time.

One of the other sailors on board had set up a Buc-ee's gift exchange, so we had to secure our gifts.  After gas, bathroom break and purchasing our gifts, we were on our way.

We arrived in Galveston and checked into our hotel - the Holiday Inn Resort, Galveston on the Beach where we found out we had been upgraded to the Starfish Suite.  So far, the trip was starting out great.  We headed to the room to drop off our luggage and were pleasantly surprised with the room and the view.

After dropping our bags in the room and settling in for a bit, we headed over to The Spot where we were meeting up with some other cruisers.

At the time, they had a black bean burger for me to eat and I really enjoyed it.

After eating dinner and mingling for a while, we headed back to the room to relax and get ready for embarkation day tomorrow.
